Ghazipur, 2/1: A farmer from Uttar Pradesh, who was protesting against the farm laws at the Ghazipur Border hanged himself inside the toilet. The farmer was identified as Kashmir Singh, 75, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district.
Kashmir Singh left a suicide note in which he blamed the central government for taking the extreme step. The police are yet to confirm the reason. According to Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader, Rakesh Tikait, the deceased farmer, in his suicide note, wished to be cremated at the protest site.
Farmers are protesting against the three farm laws for 38 days, constantly battling the cold wave of North India. This was not the 1st case of farmer’s suicide during the protest. Previously a priest from Karnal, Haryana had shot himself near Singhu Border.
