Canadian PM backs the farmers protest in India. Says the “Situation is Concerning”.
Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau is the first among the world leaders to back the ongoing farmers' protests in India. Trudeau raised his concern about the situation and commented that Canada will always back peaceful protests for the rights.
New Delhi(Ottawa), 1/12: Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada commented on the ongoing farmers’ protest in India. Trudeau, 48, is the first leader in the world, to comment on the situation. “The news coming out of India about the protest by farmers. The situation is concerning and we’re all very worried about family and friends. I know that’s a reality for many of you. Let me remind you, Canada will always be there to defend the rights of peaceful protest,” Trudeau said, at an online event, commemorating the 551st birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru.
Trudeau expressed his concerns over the situation and remarked that the Government of India has to take steps to make the farmers stop the protest. “We believe in the importance of dialogue and that’s why, we’ve reached out to multiple means, directly to the Indian authorities to highlight our concerns. This is a moment for all of us to pull together,” the Canadian PM said in a video posted by the World Sikh Organization. Trudeau also said that Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary is a very auspicious day for all Sikh Canadians in a separate video.
