Veteran Congress leader dies from COVID-19

Veteran Congress leader, Ahmed Patel, died from COVID-19 at a Gurugram hospital on Wednesday morning. Patel was 71 years old at the time of his death.

New Delhi, 25/11: Ahmed Patel, a veteran Congress leader and Congress Supremo Sonia Gandhi’s most trusted political advisor, died of COVID-19 on Wednesday morning. Mr. Patel was 71 years old at the time of his death. Mr. Patel had tested positive for COVID-19 on 1 October 2020 and had urged everyone who had been in contact with him to undergo self-quarantine. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit(ICU) of Medanta Hospital, Gurugram on 15 November 2020 after his condition worsened.

Faisal Patel, son of the Congress veteran tweeted, “With profound grief & sorrow, I regret to announce the sad and untimely demise of my father, Mr. Ahmed Patel at 25/11/2020, 03:30 AM. After testing positive for COVID-19 around a month back, his health worsened further due to multiple organ failures. May Allah grant him Jannatul firdaus, inshallah”. He also urged all the well-wishers as well as the citizens of the country to avoid social gatherings and maintain social distancing, and follow COVID-19 guidelines properly.

“In Sh. Ahmed Patel, I have lost a colleague, whose entire life was dedicated to the Congress Party. His faithfulness and dedication, his commitment to his duty, his always being there to help, his generosity were rare qualities that distinguished him from others. I have lost an irreplaceable comrade, a faithful colleague and a friend. I mourn his passing and I feel deeply for his bereaved family to whom I offer my sincere feelings of empathy and support,”Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi tweeted, mourning the death of her most trusted advisor.
