Vaccine makers should get protection against lawsuits, says Serum Institute Chief Adar Poonawala

New Delhi, 20/12: World’s largest vaccine manufacturer The Serum Institute of India has asked the government to protect the vaccine makers from lawsuits. SII’s CEO Adar Poonawala has asked the government to protect the vaccine makers from ‘frivolous claims’.

Poonawala’s statement comes after a volunteer from Chennai has claimed to have suffered a number of side-effects after getting Oxford’s coronavirus vaccine. Adar Poonawalla said the government should indemnify manufacturers, especially vaccine manufacturers, against all lawsuits while speaking at the Global Technology Summit 2020.
