New Zealand's All-Blacks Rugby team laid down a special No.10 jersey with Maradona named in it, as a tribute to the late Argentine football legend.
New Delhi(New Castle), 29/11: The New Zealand Men’ National Rugby team, known popularly as All Blacks, paid tribute to the Argentine football legend Diego Maradona, who died at the age of 60 on Wednesday, 25 November 2020. In the on-going Tri-Nations Cup between Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand, the All Blacks of New Zealand faced off the Pumas of Argentina on Saturday. All Blacks captain Sam Cane laid down a No. 10 jersey with Maradona named on it, in the middle of the field and went on to perform the traditional “Haka”, the Maori war-cry, before the start of the match. The Pumas stood arm-in-arm as the All Blacks dedicated their “Haka” to the late footballer and several Argentine players could be seen acknowledging their opponents’ show of respect. The game, however, ended quite badly for the Pumas as the All Blacks won one-sided, 38-0 over them. With the win over the Pumas, the All Blacks have secured the top position in the Tri-Nations Cup with a game remaining and are crowned champions.
