Former Bangladesh Under 19 cricketer committed suicide

Dhaka, 16/11: Former Bangladesh Under-19 cricketer Mohammad Shojib has said goodbye to the world. He committed suicide at his home on Saturday 14 November. Shojib, 21 years old, was also a part of the Bangladesh Under-19 team. This team was commanded by Saif Hassan. He also went to New Zealand as a standby player but was not included in the playing XI. This young batsman was also a part of Bangladesh’s Under-19 Asia Cup team.

In 2018, he made his debut in List A cricket for Shinepukur, where he scored 9, 0 and 1 not out. However, he did not play any competitive match since March 2018. Shojib was also not a part of the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup draft. Bangladesh Cricket Board Game Development Manager Abu Inam Mohammad expressed grief that Sozab might have taken this dangerous step due to being out of the tournament. Talking to BD Cricktime, Abu said that Soujib was part of our 2018 batch Under 19 team along with Saif and Afif Hussain. He was also a standby in the World Cup. He had played against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup. Abu said that it was sad to hear the news of his death.
