Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: Govt relaxes age norm for opening account

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic,  the government has announced relaxation in the eligibility norms for the opening of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) accounts.

Sukanya Samriddhi Account can be opened in the name of the girl child on or before July 31, 2020, who have already reached the age of 10 years during the period of lockdown starting from March 25, 2020, to June 30, 2020.

The interest rate is 7.6 percent which is highest in small savings .
