New Delhi, 16/11: Former USA President Barack Obama’s book “A Promised Land” caused a flutter in India after Obama’s description about the crown-prince of Congress, Rahul Gandhi came into public view. Congress spokesperson and leader, Shashi Tharoor was quick to deliver a hard blow to the rejoicing members and supporters of BJP who were seemingly happy about Obama’s description of Rahul Gandhi. In a series of tweets, the witty leader from Congress wrote that he had received an advanced copy of “A Promised Land” and the book had praises of former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh but had nearly no mention of the present Prime Minister and BJP Supremo Narendra Modi.

“Big news: There isn’t much. Bigger news: in 902 pages, Narendra Modi is not mentioned by name at all,” Tharoor declared in a tweet. In the subsequent series of tweets, Tharoor quoted the book saying that Obama described the former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh as a “wise, thoughtful, and scrupulously honest man” and an intelligent man with uncommon wisdom and decency. Tharoor tweeted: “Difficult to imagine that the Sanghis who have been rejoicing on social media about one sentence in the memoir will draw much comfort from these reflections. They offer a foretaste of what Vol.2 is likely to tell us about India in a post-Manmohan Singh era when Obama returned.”
