Dynamite Explosion in Karnataka’s Shivamogga kills 8 People

Bengaluru, 22/1: A dynamite blast in Karnataka’s Shivamogga town has left at least 8 killed. The blast was heard around 10.15 pm on Thursday Night. The explosion was reported at a railway quarry site in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, the police said.

The entire area is currently sealed and a possibility of a second blast at the quarry at Hunasondi near village Abbalagere has been ruled out since some dynamite sticks are still live, the Police said to the news agency PTI.

The police said that two people are detained in relation to the case and a high-level investigation is launched in the case. The detained included a contractor of a stone crushing facility where the blast occurred.
