In a shocking result for congress, it lost to BJP in Panchayat and Zilla Parishad polls. Congress is protesting against BJP policies in the state.

Jaipur, 9/12: The ruling Government Congress lost to BJP in the Panchayat and Zilla Parishad elections. This came as a shocker for the Congress party, who are protesting against Modi’s policies in the state.

BJP in the state swept 1,911 seats in the recently held Panchayat Samiti elections while the Congress managed to win 1,781 seats. The Independents gained 425 seats, the Bahujan Samaj Party got 3 seats while CPI-M captured 16 seats in the elections while RLP got 57 seats, according to the state election commission website. The results for 4,239 seats were announced out of 4,371. The counting was still underway.

BJP’s impressive winning streak continued in the Zilla Parishad elections as well where BJP won 353 seats and Congress won 252 seats. The rest of the seats were gathered by CPI-M, Independents, and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party winning 2, 18, and 10 seats respectively.

“This victory is the people’s stamp on BJP’s rural policies. It reflects PM Narendra Modi’s developed ideology for farmers and this victory also reflects the hard efforts taken by BJP workers,” BJP state president Satish Poonia said.
