Cooperation Minister Surya Narayan Patro said that, to know about more on agriculture related information, the government will distribute smart phones to women farmers in the state.
Patro said that “Earlier we have provided free mobile phones to farmers. Now, the Chief Minister has directed to distribute smart phones to our women farmers so that they can get all agriculture-related information about weather, crop loans and marketing of their produce,” We hope we could cover 70 per cent of total women farmers in the first phase.”
The Cooperation Department will distribute smart phones to women farmers, who will have to apply for it. The government will develop a mobile application and a dedicated website to provide
agriculture-related information to women farmers in Odia language and the department will distribute more user-friendly android sets this time. The government has also decided to sanction around 7,200 crore loans to farmers during Kharif season. “We have already started advertisements urging farmers to register their names for availing loans.
Earlier, the state government has distributed about 60,000 phones through Regulated Marketing Committees to the farmers.
