Farm Protest: Rakesh Tikait says “can’t hold talks on Gunpoint”

New Delhi, 31/12: The Bhartiya Kissan Union(BKU) chief Rakesh Tikait on Sunday said that the farmers union is not ready to talk to the center on gunpoint.

He said, “With respect to the PM, we want a solution to the issue of farmers. However, we will not hold talks with the government at gunpoint”.

He also said that the government should not put prior conditions before the talks and the government should release the farmers who are in jail right now.

“Farmers are ready to hold talks only if the Centre does not put prior conditions in front of us. Narendra Modi is our PM too, we have also voted for him. We are ready to talk to the Centre but on the condition that those who have been arrested be released. What happened on Republic Day is wrong and officials must probe the Red Fort incident and find out who helped protesters there,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in year’s first ‘Mann Ki Baat’ said that he was hurt by the insult to the tri-color on Republic day. Responding to that he said, “The national flag belongs to all. The government should nab those who insulted it.”
