New Delhi, 8/3: The Indian Fed Cup tennis team has made history by entering the playoffs for the first time. Thanks to Ankita Raina’s brilliant performance in Dubai, India won 2–1 against Indonesia. Ankita recorded a priceless win against the talented Aldila Sutjiadi in the singles match on Saturday night, helping India equalize 1–1 in the competition. Earlier, Rituja Bhosale had to face a crushing defeat against the unseeded Prisca Madeleine Nugroho.
Rituja lost the opening singles match 3-6 6-0 3-6 in an hour and 43 minutes against the 16-year-old Indonesian, ranked 15th in the ITF Junior Circuit. Ankita, who had lost her last two singles matches, defeated Aldila Sutjiadi’s challenge 6-3 6-3 in the second match against Indonesia.
