PM lays foundation stone to rural water projects in UP

PM Narendra Modi laid foundation stones to rural water projects which will benefit 3000 villages and provide tap water connections to the households.

New Delhi, 22/11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of rural drinking water projects in the districts of Mirzapur and Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh. The event was held via video conferencing. The projects will provide tap water connections to 2995 villages in the region and about 42 lakh people will be benefited from the project.

A special committee called Village Water and Sanitation Committee or Pani Samitee has been formed in each of the villages, who will take all the responsibility for the operation and maintenance. The total estimated cost of the projects is Rs 5,555.38 crore. The projects are planned to be completed in 24 months under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ announced by the Prime Minister on August 15, 2019.
