F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton tests positive for COVID-19
The FIA reported on Tuesday that the F1 World Champion, Lewis Hamilton has tested positive for COVID-19 and is in isolation.
New Delhi(Manama)/ 1/12: Lewis Hamilton, the world champion in F1 racing has tested positive for COVID-19 and has undergone isolation, thus preventing him from competing in the upcoming Sakhir Grand Prix, reported the FIA, the governing body for Formula-One racing. “In accordance with COVID-19 protocols and public health authority guidelines in Bahrain he (Hamilton) is now isolating,” said an FIA statement. “The procedures set out by the FIA and Formula 1 will ensure no wider impact on this weekend’s event.”
Hamilton had earlier won the Bahrain Grand Prix this Sunday, and had tested negative in all the three tests held last week, but woke up with symptoms on Monday. He was confirmed to be positive. and has since been kept in isolation. “Apart from mild symptoms, he is otherwise fit and well, and the entire team sends him its very best wishes for a swift recovery.”Hamilton’s Mercedes team stated.
