Chennai, 21/12: The Tamil Nadu state government has decided to give Rs 2500 cash to over 2.6 crore ration cardholders in the state. The announcement came just before the Pongal festival. The said amount will be distributed on the 4th of January.
The government will also give one kg of rice, sugar, raisins, cashew, cardamom, a cloth bag, and a cane to the ration card holders free of cost under this package.
Opposition leader MK Stalin questioned the government’s decision and said, “when people were facing problems, no financial relief was given. But now as the election draws near, the Chief Minister has announced to give Rs 2,500. At least now he should give Rs 5,000 to those who are suffering due to the pandemic the monsoon rains.”
