Olympic bound athletes to be given priority when COVID-19 vaccine becomes available

New Delhi, 29/11: Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju declared that Olympic-bound athletes and support staff would be prioritized when the vaccine for COVID-19 becomes available. Rijiju said that the nation will send its largest-ever team to date for Tokyo Olympics which has been postponed till 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic. “Whether it is Tokyo Olympics or any big event happening, the preference will be given to Olympic-bound athletes as well as the (support) staff because it is time-bound,” Rijiju said as he flagged off the Delhi Half-marathon. The minister also laid stress on organizing more national and international events since the Olympic qualification events are going to happen.
