Sensex nears 50,000 mark

Mumbai, 13/1:The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the leading index Sensex, is now only 300 points away from the historical record level of 50,000, amid continued strong momentum. Banking stocks are seeing a boom in morning trading on Wednesday. Bank Nifty also reached a new record level of 32,683 with an increase of 1 percent today. ICICI Bank has risen 2 percent, Axis Bank 1 percent in banking stocks today. Among the state-owned banks, Bank of Baroda is the largest with 4 percent and State Bank of India with 3 percent growth. Today, the Sensex is seen trading up by 200 points from 49,728 points on the previous day. At the same time, the Nifty is also trading at 14,636 points with a gain of 0.6 percent. By 11 am, the Nifty is trading at 14,611 levels with a gain of 0.33 percent. Whereas, the BSE Sensex is trading at 49,645 with a gain of 0.26 percent. Apart from Bharti Airtel, shares of Tata Motors and Reliance are also gaining momentum.
