New Delhi, 22/1: A Case has been registered against the UK-based political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI). It is alleged that Cambridge Analytica has stolen the Facebook data of 5.62 lakh Indians. The agency has also named Global Science Research (GSRL) in the case.
Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said that there will be a CBI probe into the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data theft case.
In response to CBI, Facebook said that GSRL illegally collected personal data of around 5.62 lakh users in India and shared it with Cambridge Analytica. It is also alleged that Cambridge Analytica used the data to influence elections in India.
