French striker Olivier Giroud became the oldest player to score a hattrick in Champions League as he scored 4 goals for Chelsea against Sevilla.
New Delhi(Sevilla), 3/12: Chelsea’s striker, Olivier Giroud became the oldest player to score a hattrick in the UEFA Champions League as Chelsea thrashed Sevilla 4-0. Giroud, who plays for the French National Team, scored his first goal at the 8th-minute mark, and the rest of his goals came in the second half. The second goal was in the 54th minute, the third in the 74th minute, and the fourth and final goal was a penalty in the 83rd minute. Chelsea faced the Spanish side of Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and thrashed the home team 4-0 to secure the top position of their group. “Oldest player to score a hat-trick in Champions League era. Four goals for Olivier Giroud in Seville,” Champions League tweeted after the match on Wednesday evening. Giroud is the first player since former Chelsea star and now-Manager, Frank Lampard to score a hattrick in the Champions League for Chelsea. Lampard did it last against Aston Villa in March 2010 and was the first-ever Chelsea player to score a hattrick for the team.
