India has Successfully Cultured the UK Coronavirus Strain: ICMR

New Delhi, 3/1: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Saturday that India has successfully cultured the Mutant Coronavirus Strain from the UK. India is the first country in the world to do so.

ICMR in a tweet stated that “UK-variant of the virus, with all signature changes, is now successfully isolated and cultured at the National Institute of Virology (NIV) from the clinical specimens collected from UK-returnees.”

The mutant coronavirus strain is to be 70% more infectious and it was first found in the UK. In India, a total of 29 people are found positive for the new corona strains.
